Western Pacific; 10 cm; common
Hardiest of all marine angelfishes, recommended for beginners; some specimens from
Hawaii and Christmas Island, Line Islands are intensely red, but not all of them have
such coloration; those from Marquesas Islands have fewer bands on side, sometimes
completely missing; good deal of specimens are imported from Majuro, Marshall Islands
and the most sought-after species in the aquarium trade; easy to acclimate and take
foods soon; recently a laboratory in Oahu has succeeded an aquaculture for sale; I
observed one specimen of 6 cm long, at the depth of only one meter at a yacht harbor in
Kaneohe Bay, southeastern Oahu, where a Potter’s Angelfish ( C.potteri) of 6 cm long was
swimming together, and they were seen on a vertical wall of the harbor!
