Guten Abend, um welche Kegelschnecken-Art könnte es sich handeln? Ich habe das Foto an Shark Island/Fujairah am Golf von Oman gemacht. Vielen Dank.

Hallo Jean-Marie,
No need to apologize ! I can't say it in French ;)

We use the WoRMS database and I found Conus textile Linnaeus, 1758 www.marinespecies.org and Conus textile textile Linnaeus, 1758 www.marinespecies.org

On WoRMS Conus textile textile Linnaeus, 1758 there is the following information dated on 26.11.2017 :" Taxonomic citation
Bouchet, P. (2016). Conus textile textile Linnaeus, 1758. In: Mol.luscaBase (2017). Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at www.marinespecies.org on 2017-11-26"

We will check it and f necessary, change our article.

Many thanks for your information and your help.

Greetings ,
Siglinde

Hallo Muelly,
I don't want to sound pedantic about the name. It is just that I was corrected on one of my pictures by someone who really knew about the subject. In fact, the latest classification (2015) defines Cylinder as a subgenus of Conus. As a consequence, we are not supposed to use Conus.

en.wikipedia.org

But I am sure it will take years before this change of name is effective among aquarists. I guess lots of aquarists still use Pelmatochromis pulcher instead of Pelvicachromis. Not that it matters that much.

All the best
Jean-Marie

Hallo Jean-Marie ,

Yesterday evening I've got this answer :

"Some authors recognize subspecies within species, and we want to reflect this in WoRMS. This is why we have an entry for Conus textile textile - for those who want to recognize subspecies within Conus textile. However, the use of subspecies (and subgenera) is optional: the trinomen Conus textile textile is correct, but the binomen Conus textile is not incorrect. This is why we flag trinomens as "alternate representation". If your purpose is not to discuss the subspecies of Conus textile, then you should use simply Conus textile. "

We use Conus textile Linnaeus, 1758.

Mit dem Link zum Artikel geht auch diese Information hier nicht verloren.
